Steam and Dream

As with any other mid-week day, I awaken with a flurry and a rush. The routine begins as usual - alarm clock, shower, lunches, a quick look at email while gulping coffee. The kids are out the door on time and I have a few moments to fold the laundry before rushing off to start my day at work.
With relief, I arrive on time. I have now switched hats and gone from mother to employee. Put a smile on, be pleasant, work to my fullest potential and try my best to avoid conflicts along the way. While I enjoy my job, it does sometimes feel like the daily grind. I must add, that I am fortunate to work with some wonderful people. They certainly make the day more worthwhile.
As quitting time approaches, my mind shifts into after-school activity mode. Who has a soccer game and where is it today? How much time will I have to drive there? Will my husband remember how to get there? Driving to the game, I let my mind wander to many happy places. I look forward to the pleasure of watching my daughter play soccer. I think about dinner preparation and the evening ahead.
When the game has ended, it is now time to gather my child and head for home. Now the race at home begins again. Get dinner prepared and on the table while the evening is still young. Take a breath and enjoy the time with my family while they share details of their day. This is a moment to savor. As dinner draws to a close and clean-up time begins, I let my mind wander to an opportunity for personal indulgence....STEAM & DREAM!
It has long been my pleasure to relax in a tub full of steaming hot water at the end of a hectic day. The soothing warmth of the water and the veil of steam wash away the stresses of the day. As I slip into the water and close my eyes, I literally feel the tingle of relaxation climb from my toes to the top of my head. It is now my time to reflect on the day and let my mind wander. These few moments are therapeutic and revitalizing. Time to steam and dream seems to be the key to feeling renewed and refreshed at the end of each day.
As I emerge from the steamy tub, I am reminded of the importance of taking a few moments each day to take care of myself. In the midst of all the love and caring for others in your life, NEVER forget the critical importance loving and caring for you!
